Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Ox-Bow Incident”
The Ox-Bow Incident is a classic Western drama set in a small town in Nevada in the late 1800s. It tells the story of two drifters, Gil Carter (Henry Fonda) and Art Croft (Henry Morgan) who arrive in town looking for work.
When a local rancher, Major Tetley (Frank Conroy), is found murdered, the townspeople are quick to jump to conclusions and accuse three men of the crime. Despite the lack of evidence and the pleas of the accused, the townspeople decide to form a vigilante posse and take matters into their own hands. Led by the town’s sheriff, Major Tetley’s son, Donald (Anthony Quinn), the posse sets out to find the three men and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, Carter and Croft, who are sympathetic to the accused men, attempt to find out the truth behind the murder and stop the posse from doing something they will regret. As the posse closes in on the three innocent men, Carter and Croft must race against time to save them.
The Ox-Bow Incident is a gripping drama about justice, morality, and the power of mob mentality. It is a timeless tale of the dangers of rushing to judgment and the consequences of taking the law into one’s own hands.
