Synopsis/Plot
The Outsider is a 2019 crime drama film directed by Martin Zandvliet and written by Andrew Baldwin. The film stars Jared Leto, Tadanobu Asano, Kippei Shiina, Shiori Kutsuna, and Emile Hirsch.
The film follows Nick Lowell (Jared Leto), an American soldier released from prison after serving a lengthy sentence for murder. After his release, Nick is recruited by the Yakuza, a powerful Japanese crime syndicate, and is sent to Osaka to help them gain control of the city’s criminal underworld.
Nick quickly finds himself embroiled in a deadly power struggle between the Yakuza and the Chinese Triad, a rival gang. As Nick navigates the treacherous waters of the criminal underworld, he must also confront his own personal demons and learn to live with the consequences of his past.
