Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Opposite of Sex”
The Opposite of Sex is a 1998 American romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Don Roos. The film stars Christina Ricci, Martin Donovan, Lisa Kudrow, and Lyle Lovett.
The film follows the story of Dedee Truitt, an unapologetically wild and unruly teenager who moves in with her gay half-brother Bill and his partner Tom. Dedee is determined to disrupt their lives and quickly sets out to seduce Tom. When Dedee discovers that she is pregnant, she blackmails Bill into allowing her to stay.
Meanwhile, Dedee’s arrival has also stirred up the emotions of Matt, her former lover and the father of her unborn child. He tracks her down and follows her to Bill’s house, determined to win her back.
As the story progresses, Dedee’s manipulative and selfish behavior creates chaos in the lives of everyone around her. She continues to disrupt Bill and Tom’s relationship, while also manipulating Matt into believing that he is the father of her unborn child.
The film follows Dedee as she is forced to confront the consequences of her actions, and ultimately learns the importance of responsibility and compassion. Through her journey, she learns the true meaning of love and the importance of family.
