Synopsis/Plot
The Omen is a 1976 horror film directed by Richard Donner. The film stars Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, and Harvey Stephens as a family dealing with the consequences of a mysterious child, Damien, who is revealed to be the Antichrist.
The film begins with a mysterious tragedy, as a nanny dies in a fall while looking after Robert Thorn’s (Gregory Peck) son. Robert is an American diplomat in Rome, and his wife Katherine (Lee Remick) is devastated by the loss. Robert is then approached by a priest who tells him that his son was stillborn and that he should take a healthy newborn, Damien, from the same hospital to spare his wife’s feelings.
Robert and Katherine take Damien home, and soon strange things start to happen. Animals become violent when Damien is around, and Robert begins to suspect that Damien may be the Antichrist. He begins to investigate and discovers that Damien’s birth mother was a jackal, and that the priest who arranged for Damien’s adoption was in fact a servant of Satan.
