Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Old Man and the Sea”
The Old Man and the Sea, released in 1990, is a classic story of determination and courage. It follows an elderly Cuban fisherman, Santiago, who has gone 84 days without catching a single fish. He is ridiculed by the other fishermen, who believe that he is cursed.
Santiago sets out to sea one morning, determined to catch a fish. After a long day of fishing, he finally catches a giant marlin. He ties the marlin to his boat and begins the long journey home. Along the way, Santiago battles sharks and exhaustion, determined to bring the fish home.
At the end of his journey, Santiago arrives home with the marlin. He is greeted by a crowd of fishermen who admire his bravery and determination. He is invited to join the village for a celebratory feast, where the marlin is cooked and served.
The next morning, Santiago wakes to find the marlin skeleton strung up in the village square. The villagers have honored him with a monument to his courage and determination.
