Synopsis/Plot
The Northman is a 2020 action-adventure film directed by Robert Eggers and starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, and Alexander Skarsgård. Set in Iceland in the 10th century, the film follows a young Viking prince, Baldur, as he embarks on a quest to avenge his father’s death. Along the way, he must battle the supernatural forces of the North, and confront his own inner demons.
The story begins with Baldur’s father, King Hrafn, being killed by the mysterious Northman, a powerful sorcerer. Seeking revenge, Baldur sets off on a journey to find the Northman and avenge his father’s death. Along the way, heencounters a variety of characters, both human and supernatural. He meets the mysterious witch Rán, who helps him on his quest, and a powerful giant who is the guardian of the North. He also encounters the god of the sea, Aegir, who challenges him to a battle of wits. Along the way, Baldur must confront his own inner demons, as he struggles to come to terms with his father’s death and the truth of his own identity. In the end, Baldur’s courage and determination leads him to the Northman, where he must face his ultimate challenge.
