Synopsis – What to Expect from “The New Romantic”
The New Romantic is a romantic-comedy movie released in 2018. The movie follows the story of a college senior named Blake Conway (Jessica Barden). Blake is a hopeless romantic who is looking for the perfect love story.
Blake is tired of the traditional dating scene and decides to take a chance and try something new. She begins to pursue a relationship with an older man, a wealthy and successful entrepreneur named Ian (Timothy Simons).
At first, the relationship is purely physical and Blake is happy with the arrangement. However, she soon discovers that Ian is not all that he appears to be. He is a married man with a young daughter. Blake is heartbroken but determined to make the relationship work.
Meanwhile, Blake’s best friend, Morgan (Camila Mendes), is trying to help her find a more suitable partner. Morgan introduces Blake to a new dating app called “The New Romantic” which is specifically designed for people looking for a more meaningful connection. Blake is hesitant at first but eventually decides to give it a try.
The New Romantic helps Blake meet a few interesting people, including a charming and handsome professor named Jordan (Avan Jogia). Blake and Jordan quickly develop a strong connection and Blake begins to wonder if this could be the real thing.
