Synopsis/Plot
The Negotiator is a 1998 action-thriller film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. The film follows the story of a brilliant police negotiator, Danny Roman (Samuel L. Jackson), who is falsely accused of masterminding a hostage crisis in his own precinct. In order to prove his innocence and save the lives of his fellow officers, Danny must take the precinct hostage and negotiate a deal with the police department.
The film opens with Danny Roman, a veteran police negotiator, arriving at the scene of a hostage crisis. He quickly takes control of the situation and manages to get the hostages released safely. However, when the police department discovers that Danny was the one who orchestrated the hostage situation, they arrest him and put him on trial.
In order to prove his innocence, Danny takes the police precinct hostage, demanding that his former partner, Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey), be assigned to the case. As the police department scrambles to find a way to end the situation, Danny and Chris begin to uncover a conspiracy involving a corrupt police chief and a mysterious figure known only as “The Voice”.
