Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Navigator”
The Navigator is a 1924 silent film directed by and starring Buster Keaton. The film follows the story of a wealthy young man, Rollo Treadway (Buster Keaton), who is on a luxury cruise ship with his girlfriend, Betsy O’Brien (Kathryn McGuire). When the ship is hit by a storm, Rollo and Betsy are separated and he finds himself stranded on a deserted island.
Rollo is forced to fend for himself in his new environment and discovers a hidden cave with a map that leads to a nearby island. He sets off on a journey to find his way back home. Along the way, he encounters a variety of obstacles, including a giant octopus, a tribe of natives, and a treacherous whirlpool. He also meets a mysterious girl, Neva (Kathryn McGuire), who helps him in his quest.
Rollo eventually makes it back to his home, but discovers that his beloved Betsy has been kidnapped by a group of pirates led by Blackbeard (Noah Young). Rollo must now use his newfound skills to rescue his beloved and defeat the pirates.
