Synopsis/Plot
The Nativity Story is a 2006 drama film directed by Catherine Hardwicke and written by Mike Rich. It is a retelling of the story of the Nativity of Jesus, the birth of Jesus as described in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
The story begins with Mary, a young Jewish girl, who is betrothed to Joseph, a carpenter. When Mary is found to be pregnant, Joseph is unsure if the child is his or if Mary has been unfaithful. An angel appears to Joseph in a dream and tells him that the child is of divine origin.
Joseph and Mary travel to Bethlehem for the Roman census, and Mary gives birth to Jesus in a stable. The birth is witnessed by shepherds and three wise men, who bring gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
The film follows the journey of Mary and Joseph as they attempt to protect Jesus from the wrath of King Herod, who is determined to kill Jesus and the other children of Bethlehem. Along the way, Mary and Joseph are aided by an angel and a group of shepherds.
The Nativity Story is a powerful and moving retelling of the birth of Jesus. It
