Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Man with Two Brains”

The Man With Two Brains is a 1983 American science fiction comedy film directed by Carl Reiner and starring Steve Martin and Kathleen Turner.

The story follows Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr (Steve Martin), a brilliant neurosurgeon who has just married a beautiful, but gold-digging, woman named Dolores Benedict (Kathleen Turner). After a successful operation, Michael discovers a revolutionary new technique that allows him to transfer a human brain into a new body.

When Michael’s wife discovers his plans, she attempts to stop him and have him declared insane. Michael escapes and finds his way to a mysterious laboratory, where he meets the eccentric scientist Dr. Necessiter (David Warner). Necessiter reveals that he has been transferring the brains of animals into human bodies, and he is now ready to try it with a human brain.

Michael decides to use the technique to save the life of an intelligent, but dying, woman named Anne Uumellmahaye (Sissy Spacek). He transfers Anne’s brain into the body of a recently deceased gorilla, and she comes to life.

Michael and Anne fall in love, but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Anne’s body is that of a gorilla. Michael must find a way to transfer Anne’s brain back into a human body before it’s too late.
