Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Lovebirds”
The Lovebirds is a 2020 American romantic comedy film directed by Michael Showalter and starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani.
The Lovebirds follows Leilani (Issa Rae) and Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani), a couple on the brink of breaking up. As they try to save their relationship, they find themselves embroiled in a wild and outrageous adventure when they witness a murder and become the prime suspects.
Leilani and Jibran are on their way to a dinner party when their car breaks down. As they try to get it fixed, they find themselves in the middle of a heated argument between a couple in a nearby car. The argument turns into a fight and suddenly, one of the people is killed. Leilani and Jibran are the only witnesses to the murder and they quickly become the prime suspects.
With the help of a mysterious stranger, the couple goes on the run to clear their names and find the real killer. Along the way, they encounter a variety of colorful characters and wild situations that test their relationship and force them to confront their issues.
As they race to prove their innocence, Leilani and Jibran must also confront their own feelings and decide if their relationship is worth saving. In the end, they will discover that the greatest adventure of all is the journey of love.
