Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Love Guru”
The Love Guru is a 2008 comedy film starring Mike Myers as Guru Pitka, an American who was raised in an Indian ashram and now lives in the United States. He is hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team to help their star player, Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco), win back his wife and the respect of his teammates.
The Maple Leafs are in the middle of a losing streak, and their owner, Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba), is desperate to find a way to turn the team around. She hires Pitka to help Darren and the team. Pitka must teach Darren how to be a better leader and help him win back his wife, Prudence (Meagan Good).
At first, Pitka’s methods seem unorthodox, but he soon proves to be an effective teacher. He helps Darren to become a better leader, and to gain the respect of his teammates. He also helps him reconnect with Prudence, and the two soon rekindle their romance.
Meanwhile, Pitka’s rival, Guru Tugginmypudha (Justin Timberlake), attempts to sabotage Pitka’s efforts by trying to seduce Prudence. Pitka must find a way to save his reputation and help the Maple Leafs win the championship.
In the end, Pitka’s unconventional methods help the team win the championship and Darren and Prudence reunite. Pitka is praised by the team and the city of Toronto
