Synopsis/Plot
The Long Riders is a 1980 western film directed by Walter Hill and starring the real-life “brothers” of acting families: James and Stacy Keach, David, Keith, and Robert Carradine, Dennis and Randy Quaid, and Christopher and Nicholas Guest. The film follows the lives of the James-Younger gang, a group of outlaws who terrorized the Midwest in the late 1800s.
The story begins with the James brothers, Jesse and Frank, who are joined by their cousin Cole Younger and his brothers Bob, Jim, and John. The gang begins to rob banks and trains, eventually becoming notorious for their daring and violent exploits. The authorities are determined to bring them to justice, and the gang is forced to flee. They are joined by the Miller brothers, Clell and Ed, and the gang continues their robberies, while also trying to evade the law.
The gang’s exploits become increasingly daring, and they eventually become the most wanted criminals in the country. They are pursued relentlessly by a group of bounty hunters and Pinkerton agents, and the gang is eventually forced to split up. Jesse and Frank go on the run, while Cole and the Miller brothers are captured and sent to prison.
