Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog”
The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog tells the story of a mysterious lodger who moves into the house of a London family during a foggy winter. The family, Mr. and Mrs. Bunting, are desperate for the rent money and so they take him in despite his strange behavior.
The lodger, who is never named, quickly becomes the center of attention in the household. He is polite and well-mannered, but he is also very secretive about his past and his identity. He refuses to answer any questions about himself, and he keeps to himself.
The lodger’s strange behavior begins to worry Mrs. Bunting, and she suspects he may be the notorious serial killer known as “the Avenger,” who has been terrorizing London. She and her husband begin to investigate the lodger’s past, but their efforts are thwarted by the fog that blankets the city.
Meanwhile, Detective Joe Smith is assigned to the case of the Avenger and begins to suspect the lodger. He follows him and begins to uncover clues that point to the lodger as the killer.
As the investigation progresses, the lodger’s true identity is revealed. He is not the Avenger, but he is a wanted criminal from America. He has been on the run for years and has been living in London under an assumed name.
