Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Little Princess”
The Little Princess is a 1939 American drama film directed by Walter Lang and starring Shirley Temple, Richard Greene, and Anita Louise. The film is based on the novel A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
The movie follows the story of Sara Crewe, a young girl from a wealthy family in India who is sent to a boarding school in London. She is treated as a princess by the headmistress, Miss Minchin, and is the envy of the other students. But when her father is reported missing in action during a war in Africa, Sara is forced to become a servant in the school. Despite her difficult situation, Sara never loses hope and continues to believe that her father will return.
The movie follows Sara’s struggles as she is forced to work as a servant in the school and her attempts to keep her spirits up. She befriends a group of street urchins who help her in her quest to find her father. Eventually, with the help of her new friends, Sara discovers that her father is alive and has been taken prisoner.
The movie culminates with the reunion of Sara and her father, and Sara is restored to her rightful place as a princess. The movie ends with Sara and her father being reunited and living happily ever after.
