Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Kings of Summer”
The Kings of Summer is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film released in 2013. The movie follows the story of three teenage boys, Joe (Nick Robinson), Patrick (Gabriel Basso), and Biaggio (Moises Arias) who are fed up with their parents and decide to build a house in the woods and live off the land for the summer.
Joe, the main protagonist, is a typical teenage boy who is struggling to find his place in the world. He is constantly at odds with his overbearing and emotionally distant father, Frank (Nick Offerman). Patrick is the opposite of Joe, a shy and sensitive boy who is struggling to find his place in the world. Biaggio is a strange and eccentric character who provides comic relief throughout the movie.
The three boys set off on their summer adventure, building the house, exploring the woods, and learning how to survive in the wild. But as the summer progresses, their friendship is tested as they face the realities of growing up. Joe and Patrick’s friendship is strained by their different outlooks on life and their growing feelings for the same girl, Kelly (Erin Moriarty). Meanwhile, Biaggio’s eccentricities begin to take a toll on the group.
The boys eventually come to terms with the fact that they must eventually return home and face their parents. Joe and Patrick reconcile their differences and accept that they must grow up and move on. The movie ends
