The King of Marvin Gardens is a 1972 drama film written and directed by Bob Rafelson and starring Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, and Ellen Burstyn.
The movie follows David Staebler (Jack Nicholson), a lonely, depressed radio talk show host living in Atlantic City. His brother Jason (Bruce Dern) suddenly arrives with a plan to develop a real estate project in the sleepy resort town. Jason has been living in California and has been involved in shady business deals. David is skeptical of his brother’s plan and is reluctant to get involved.
Meanwhile, David’s girlfriend Sally (Ellen Burstyn) is a former showgirl who is struggling to make ends meet. She is desperate for money and agrees to help Jason with his scheme.
As the trio make their way around the town, they find themselves caught up in a web of deceit and danger. Jason’s plan is not what it seems and the trio soon find themselves in a life-or-death situation.
