Synopsis/Plot
The Irishman is a 2019 crime drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Steven Zaillian, based on the 2004 non-fiction book I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. The film stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci, with Ray Romano, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, Stephen Graham, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Jesse Plemons, and Harvey Keitel in supporting roles.
The Irishman is set in the 1950s and follows Frank Sheeran (De Niro), a World War II veteran and truck driver who becomes a mob hitman. Sheeran is drawn into the world of organized crime while working for Russell Bufalino (Pesci), the head of a Pennsylvania crime family. Sheeran also develops a close relationship with Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino), a powerful union leader who is suspected of having ties to organized crime.
