Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Innocents”
The Innocents is a psychological horror film released in 1961. It follows Miss Giddens (Deborah Kerr), a governess hired to care for two young orphans, Miles and Flora, at their lonely estate.
Miss Giddens soon begins to suspect that the estate may be haunted by the ghosts of the former governess, Miss Jessel, and her lover, the valet, Peter Quint. She is convinced that the two are haunting the children, and that they are trying to possess them.
Miss Giddens begins to investigate, and soon discovers that the children are in fact being possessed by the spirits of Miss Jessel and Peter Quint. She attempts to protect the children from the ghosts, and struggles to save them from the possession.
The film culminates in a dramatic showdown between Miss Giddens and the ghosts, as she attempts to save the children from the clutches of evil. In the end, she succeeds and the children are freed from the possession.
The Innocents is a thrilling and suspenseful exploration of the supernatural, and a powerful story of one woman’s courage in the face of evil.
