Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Heavenly Kid”
The Heavenly Kid is a 1985 coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Cary Medoway and starring Lewis Smith, Bess Armstrong, and Jason Gedrick.
The film follows Lewis Zachery (Smith), a teenage boy who dies in a car accident. He is sent back to Earth as a heavenly emissary, known as The Heavenly Kid, to help his childhood friend Bobby (Gedrick) find his way in life. Bobby is a rebellious teen who is struggling to find his place in the world. He has been kicked out of school and is living in his car.
Lewis is sent back to Earth to help Bobby find his true calling in life and to help him make the right choices. Lewis is given the power to make things happen, but Bobby is unaware of his true identity. Lewis uses his powers to help Bobby find his way, but Bobby is still resistant. Bobby eventually learns the truth about Lewis and discovers that he is not only his friend, but also his guardian angel.
With Lewis’s help, Bobby finds a job at a local auto shop and begins to turn his life around. He also finds love with a girl named Lisa (Armstrong). But things take a turn for the worse when Bobby’s past catches up with him and he is forced to confront his old gang.
