Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things”
The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things is a 2004 drama film directed by Asia Argento. The movie follows the story of a young boy, Jeremiah, who is taken away from his mother, Sarah, by his father, a religious fanatic.
Jeremiah is taken to live with his father and his father’s new wife, who is a devout Christian. Jeremiah is subjected to physical and emotional abuse from his father and his new stepmother, and is forced to attend church and Bible study.
Jeremiah’s mother, Sarah, is an unstable drug addict who is unable to provide a stable home for her son. She is desperate to get him back, and she attempts to do whatever it takes to get him back.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah is struggling to survive in his new home. He is constantly subjected to abuse and religious indoctrination, and his only refuge is his imagination. He dreams of a better life with his mother, and he begins to rebel against his father and stepmother.
When Jeremiah’s father discovers his plan to escape with his mother, he is furious. He decides to take matters into his own hands and forces Jeremiah to go on a road trip with him. During the journey, Jeremiah learns more about his father and the truth about his past.
The movie culminates in a dramatic confrontation between Jeremiah and his father, and Jeremiah is finally able to escape with his mother. The movie ends with Jeremiah and Sarah reunited, and
