Synopsis/Plot

The Happening is a 2008 psychological thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The movie follows a group of people as they try to survive a mysterious and deadly phenomenon that is sweeping across the Northeastern United States. The phenomenon causes people to commit suicide in large numbers, and the group must try to find out what is causing it and how to stop it.

The movie stars Mark Wahlberg as Elliot Moore, a science teacher who is trying to protect his family from the mysterious phenomenon. He is joined by his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) and his daughter Jess (Ashlyn Sanchez). Along the way they meet other survivors, including Julian (John Leguizamo) and his daughter Jess (AshThe group soon discovers that the phenomenon is caused by an airborne toxin that is causing people to become paranoid and ultimately commit suicide. With the help of a scientist, they attempt to find a way to stop the toxin from spreading and save humanity. However, as the group moves closer to the source of the toxin, they are forced to confront their own fears and insecurities as they battle for survival. The movie ends with the group confronting the source of the toxin and ultimately succeeding in stopping it.
