Synopsis/Plot
The Grudge is a 2004 supernatural horror film directed by Takashi Shimizu and written by Stephen Susco. It stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, KaDee Strickland, Clea DuVall, Bill Pullman, and Grace Zabriskie.
The film follows an American nurse living in Tokyo who is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim. The nurse must find a way to break the curse before it consumes her.
The film opens with a mysterious woman, Kayako Saeki, walking through her house in the middle of the night. She is killed by her husband, Takeo, who then commits suicide. The Saeki family’s home is then sold to an American family, the Williams. The family moves in and soon strange occurrences begin to happen.
The Williams family begins to experience strange occurrences, such as their daughter’s toys coming to life and the sound of a baby crying in the night. The family also discovers Kayako’s ghostly figure lurking in the house.
The family eventually calls in a detective, who discovers that Kayako’s husband was driven to madness
