Synopsis/Plot
The Great Raid is a war film set during the Philippines campaign of World War II. The film follows the story of a daring rescue mission by a group of US Army Rangers and Alamo Scouts to free over 500 American prisoners of war from a Japanese POW camp in the Philippines.
The story begins with the arrival of Colonel Henry Mucci (Benjamin Bratt) and his Rangers at the camp. Mucci and his men plan and execute a daring raid to free the prisoners. The raid is a success, but the prisoners are so weak and malnourished that they can barely walk. Mucci and his men must then carry the prisoners through the jungle and evade the Japanese army in pursuit.
The film follows the Rangers and their mission to get the prisoners to safety. Along the way, they encounter numerous obstacles, including treacherous terrain, monsoon rains, and Japanese troops. The Rangers must also rely on the help of Filipino guerrillas to help guide them through the jungle.
