Synopsis/Plot
The Great Gatsby is a 2013 romantic drama film based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel of the same name. Directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton, the film tells the story of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire who is obsessed with the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, a woman he loved five years prior.
Set in 1922 Long Island, New York, Gatsby is a classic tale of love and longing. Gatsby, a self-made man, has devoted his life to amassing a fortune in order to win back the heart of Daisy, who is now married to the wealthy Tom Buchanan. Gatsby throws lavish parties in the hopes of attracting Daisy, but she remains distant and aloof.
Meanwhile, Nick Carraway, a young man from Minnesota, moves to Long Island to become a bond salesman. He rents a small house next to Gatsby’s mansion and finds himself drawn into the lavish lifestyle of the wealthy. He soon learns of Gatsby’s past and his undying love for Daisy.
The film follows Gatsby’s attempts to win Daisy
