Synopsis/Plot
The Golden Compass is a 2007 fantasy adventure film based on the novel Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. The film follows Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards), an orphan living in a parallel universe in which human souls take the form of animal companions called daemons. Lyra’s search for a missing friend uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children, and she is thrown into a quest to rescue them. Along the way, she meets an armored polar bear, an aeronaut, and a witch queen. With the help of her daemon, her powerful alethiometer, and her newfound allies, Lyra embarks on a thrilling journey to the far North, where she will discover the truth about her world and her place in it. The Golden Compass is a visually stunning and action-packed adventure that features a strong female protagonist, a unique and imaginative world, and a captivating story.
