Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Fountainhead”
The Fountainhead is a 1949 American drama film based on the novel of the same name by Ayn Rand. The film follows the story of Howard Roark, a brilliant and uncompromising architect, and his struggles to maintain his artistic integrity in the face of a hostile and often corrupt society.

He is soon hired by a small firm in the city, but his designs are rejected by clients who prefer more traditional designs.
Unable to find work in the city, Roark is hired by a wealthy industrialist, Gail Wynand (Raymond Massey), to build a housing project. Roark’s design is innovative and modern, and Wynand is impressed with the project. He offers Roark a job as his personal architect, but Roark refuses, wanting to remain independent.
Meanwhile, a young woman named Dominique Francon (Patricia Neal) begins writing a column for Wynand’s newspaper. She is critical of Roark’s work, believing that it is too modern and too individualistic. She is also in love with Roark, but she fears that her feelings will compromise her journalistic integrity.
Wynand and Francon team up to
