Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Flying Deuces”
The Flying Deuces is a classic comedy released in 1939 and starring the legendary comedy duo of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The film follows the two friends as they join the French Foreign Legion in an effort to forget their troubles and start anew.
The film begins with Stan and Ollie getting into a fight with a waiter at a restaurant. After being thrown out, they decide to join the French Foreign Legion, and soon find themselves in the middle of the desert. As they are about to be sent to the firing squad for desertion, they are saved by a group of legionnaires and are given a chance to redeem themselves.
Stan and Ollie are assigned to a remote outpost, where they must guard a camel caravan. While there, they meet a beautiful princess who is being held captive by a local warlord. The two friends come up with a plan to rescue the princess and escape with her in a flying machine that they have built.
The flying machine turns out to be a success, and the two friends are able to make a daring escape. However, they soon find themselves pursued by the warlord and his forces. After a series of madcap adventures, Stan and Ollie are able to make it back to the legion, where they are rewarded for their bravery.
