Synopsis/Plot
The Fighter tells the true story of Micky Ward, a struggling boxer who is determined to make his mark in the world of professional boxing. Micky is a small-time boxer from Lowell, Massachusetts who is trained by his half-brother, Dicky Eklund, a former boxer who is now addicted to crack cocaine. With the help of his devoted girlfriend Charlene and his loyal family, Micky perseveres and eventually makes it to the top.
The movie follows Micky’s struggles as he tries to make his mark in the boxing world. He faces a series of tough opponents, including the undefeated welterweight champion, Arturo Gatti. As Micky’s career progresses, he must also deal with the personal issues of his family, including his half-brother’s addiction and his mother’s overbearing nature.
The Fighter shows the highs and lows of Micky’s journey as he battles his way to the top. The movie features an all-star cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, and Dermot Mulroney. The film is directed by David O. Russell and was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
