The English Teacher is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Craig Zisk. It stars Julianne Moore as Linda Sinclair, a high school English teacher in Kingston, Pennsylvania who, despite her dedication to her job, is disheartened by the lack of passion for literature among her students. When former student Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns after failing to succeed as a playwright, Linda convinces him to produce his play at the school, as a way to express his feelings for his former teacher and mentor.
The film follows Linda as she discovers her own passion for writing and the joy of teaching, as well as her growing relationship with Jason. As Jason’s play gains momentum, Linda’s life begins to unravel as she struggles to find a balance between her newfound success and the demands of her personal life.
