Synopsis/Plot
The Eiger Sanction is a 1975 American thriller film directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Trevanian, and follows an art professor and collector named Jonathan Hemlock (Eastwood) who is also a former assassin for a secret government organization. When he is called back to duty to avenge the death of a former colleague, Hemlock must climb the treacherous Eiger Mountain in the Swiss Alps as part of his mission.
The film follows Hemlock as he is blackmailed into performing a dangerous mission for a mysterious government agency. He must travel to Switzerland and climb the treacherous Eiger Mountain in order to assassinate a former agent who is believed to be selling state secrets. In order to accomplish this mission, Hemlock must enlist the help of two eccentric mountain climbers, as well as a beautiful female agent. As Hemlock embarks on his mission, he finds himself in a race against time as he must also contend with a mysterious assassin who is also competing for the lucrative bounty.
