Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Edge of Love”
The Edge of Love is a 2008 romantic drama set during World War II. It tells the story of two childhood friends, Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys) and Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley), who meet again as adults and fall in love.
The movie begins in London in 1939, when Dylan and Vera are reunited after several years apart. They quickly reconnect, rekindling their childhood friendship and sparking a passionate romance. Dylan is a poet and a bohemian, while Vera is a singer and a free-spirited spirit.
The two of them are soon living together, but their relationship is complicated by the presence of Vera’s husband, William Killick (Cillian Murphy), a soldier who is away fighting in the war. Vera and William had a tumultuous relationship before he left, and Vera is still deeply in love with him.
Meanwhile, Dylan’s wife Caitlin (Sienna Miller) returns to London from Wales, where she had been living with her family. Caitlin has always been in love with Dylan, and she is jealous of his relationship with Vera.
The Edge of Love follows the relationships between the four characters as they navigate love, loyalty, and betrayal. As the war intensifies, the characters must make difficult choices about their lives and their relationships, and the consequences of their decisions will have lasting effects on all of them.
