Synopsis/Plot
The Drop is a 2014 American crime drama film directed by Michaël R. Roskam and written by Dennis Lehane, based on his 2009 short story “Animal Rescue”. The film stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini, Matthias Schoenaerts, and John Ortiz.
The film follows Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy), a lonely Brooklyn bartender who becomes embroiled in a criminal underworld when he finds a puppy in a garbage can and takes it in. Bob works at Cousin Marv’s (James Gandolfini) bar, which is used as a drop for the Chechen mob. When the bar is robbed by two criminals, Bob is forced to get involved in the criminal underworld in order to protect his newfound pup.
Bob teams up with Nadia (Noomi Rapace), the ex-girlfriend of one of the criminals, and together they attempt to unravel the mystery behind the robbery. As Bob delves deeper into the criminal underworld, he discovers that nothing is as it seems and everyone has something to hide.
