The Deliberate Stranger is a 1986 American made-for-television drama film based on the true story of serial killer Ted Bundy. The movie stars Mark Harmon as Bundy and co-stars Frederic Forrest, M. Emmet Walsh and George Grizzard.
The movie opens with Bundy’s arrest in Florida following a string of murders and kidnappings in the Pacific Northwest. The film then flashes back to Bundy’s college days at the University of Washington, where he meets and falls in love with Stephanie Brooks (played by Elizabeth Kaitan). After a brief romance, Stephanie breaks up with Bundy and the film follows his downward spiral into a life of crime.
The movie follows Bundy as he travels across the country, committing more and more heinous crimes. He is eventually captured in Florida and extradited to Washington, where he is tried and convicted of multiple murders. The film ends with Bundy’s execution in 1989.
