Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Deep End”
The Deep End is a 2001 psychological thriller directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, and starring Tilda Swinton, Goran Visnjic, and Jonathan Tucker.
The story follows Margaret Hall (Tilda Swinton), a single mother of three teenage children living in Tahoe City, California. Margaret works as a waitress and is struggling to make ends meet. She is also dealing with her teenage son Beau (Jonathan Tucker) who is getting into trouble with the law.
One night, Margaret discovers that Beau has been involved in a crime and is now being blackmailed by a local mobster. Fearing for her son’s safety, Margaret takes matters into her own hands and decides to pay off the blackmailer. She goes to a local casino and takes out a loan from a loan shark.
However, the loan shark turns out to be a shady character and Margaret soon finds herself in over her head. She is forced to take on increasingly dangerous tasks in order to pay off her debt. As the stakes become higher, Margaret is forced to confront her own inner demons and make difficult choices in order to protect her family.
