As the citizens of the town prepare for the possibility of an attack, a nuclear missile is fired at the United States. The town is destroyed, and the survivors are left to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

It also shows the effects of the nuclear fallout on the environment, and the long-term effects of radiation on the survivors.
