Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys”
The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys is a coming-of-age drama set in the 1970s. It follows four Catholic school friends, Francis, Tim, Wade, and Margie, as they struggle to find their place in the world. They are all mischievous and rebellious, and find themselves in trouble with their teachers, parents, and the Church.
The boys are inspired by a comic book character called The Atomic Trinity, and decide to make their own comic book, which they call The X-Force. The comic book tells the story of their own lives, and is filled with adventure and danger.
Meanwhile, the boys are also dealing with the pressures of growing up. Francis is struggling with his parents’ divorce, Wade is dealing with his father’s alcoholism, and Tim is trying to cope with his crush on Margie.
When their comic book is discovered by their teacher, Sister Assumpta, the boys are sent to a reformatory. There, they must confront their own fears, and learn to accept responsibility for their actions.
At the same time, they discover the power of friendship and the importance of standing up for what they believe in. As they face the consequences of their actions, they come to terms with their own lives and learn the value of being true to themselves.
