Synopsis – What to Expect from “The D Train”
The D Train is a 2015 American comedy film starring Jack Black, James Marsden, Kathryn Hahn, and Jeffrey Tambor.
The film follows Dan Landsman (Jack Black), a failed businessman and the head of his high school alumni committee. Desperate to make his mark and be remembered, Dan decides to bring the entire alumni to their 20-year reunion by convincing the most popular guy from their class, Oliver Lawless (James Marsden), to attend.
Dan travels to Los Angeles to find Oliver, who is now a successful actor. After some convincing, Oliver agrees to come back to Pittsburgh for the reunion. Dan is overjoyed, but soon discovers that Oliver is not who he appears to be. Oliver is actually a struggling actor who has been lying about his career and lifestyle in order to impress Dan.
Dan is conflicted about what to do with this information, but eventually decides to keep Oliver’s secret. He then begins to use Oliver’s celebrity status to promote the reunion, which brings in more alumni and makes Dan a local celebrity.
As the reunion approaches, Dan and Oliver’s friendship grows. Dan begins to realize that Oliver is not the shallow celebrity he thought he was, and Oliver begins to appreciate Dan’s loyalty and friendship.
However, when Oliver’s secret is revealed at the reunion, Dan is forced to confront his own insecurities and lies. He must decide whether to continue to protect Oliver or to stand up for
