Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Cutting Edge”
The Cutting Edge is a romantic comedy about a former Olympic figure skater, Kate Moseley (Moira Kelly), and a former hockey player, Doug Dorsey (D. B. Sweeney). After Kate’s partner, Anton, deserts her on the eve of the Olympic trials, she is left without a partner and unable to compete. Desperate, she turns to Doug, a former professional hockey player who was injured in a fight and is now forced to coach a local youth hockey team.
At first, Doug and Kate clash as they try to learn the intricacies of figure skating. Despite their differences, they gradually develop a strong bond and a mutual respect for one another. As they prepare for the Olympic trials, they find themselves falling in love.
The stakes are high and the competition fierce at the Olympic trials, but Kate and Doug make it through and qualify for the games. At the Olympics, they face a tough Russian team and must rely on their newfound love to give them the strength to persevere.
In the end, Kate and Doug overcome the odds and win the gold medal. Afterward, they decide to continue skating together and become professional figure skaters. As they skate off into the sunset, their love story has just begun.
