Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Convent”
The Convent is a horror movie set in the year 1845 in a small, rural village in Portugal. The film follows the story of a group of nuns who live in a convent in the village. One day, a young girl named Maria arrives at the convent, claiming to have been sent by God. The nuns are skeptical but eventually accept her and take her in.
The convent is soon plagued by strange and terrifying events. Doors open and close on their own, mysterious footsteps are heard in the halls, and a strange presence is felt throughout the convent. Maria is the only one who seems to be aware of the supernatural events, and she begins to suspect that the convent is haunted.
The nuns become increasingly scared and desperate, and eventually turn to a priest for help. The priest visits the convent and attempts to perform an exorcism, but it fails and the hauntings become more frequent and intense.
The nuns soon discover that the hauntings are the result of a centuries-old curse that has been placed on the convent. They learn that the curse is connected to a secret buried in the convent’s past, and that it can only be broken by uncovering the truth.
