Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Clique”
The Clique is a 2008 teen comedy-drama film directed by Michael Lembeck and written by Elizabeth Chandler, based on the novel of the same name by Lisi Harrison.
The movie follows the story of Massie Block (Elizabeth McLaughlin), a rich, popular girl from a wealthy Connecticut suburb who moves to a small, suburban town in Westchester, New York. She quickly befriends the local clique of girls, including Alicia Rivera (Samantha Boscarino), Dylan Marvil (Sophie Anna Everhard), Kristen Gregory (Nina Dobrev), and Claire Lyons (Bridgit Mendler).
Massie quickly establishes herself as the leader of the group and begins to use her wealth to influence the other girls. She introduces them to her designer clothes, expensive jewelry, and luxury lifestyle, and they become enamored with her. Massie also begins to manipulate the other girls, making them do her bidding and creating a competitive environment among them.
Meanwhile, Claire is struggling to fit in with the group and is constantly put down by Massie. She begins to wonder if she really belongs in the clique.
When Massie’s parents go away on a business trip, she throws a huge party at her house, inviting her friends and their friends. The party quickly gets out of hand and Massie’s parents come home to find their house trashed.
