Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Client”
The Client is a 1994 legal thriller directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones, and Brad Renfro. It is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by John Grisham.
The film follows Mark Sway (Renfro), a young boy living in Memphis, Tennessee. When Mark witnesses a suicide, he is approached by a mob lawyer, Reggie Love (Sarandon), who wants him to testify against a powerful mob boss. Mark is hesitant to cooperate, but is eventually convinced by the FBI to testify against the mob boss in exchange for protection for his family.
Meanwhile, Reggie is hired by the mob boss’ lawyer, Roy Foltrigg (Jones), to represent Mark. As the case progresses, Reggie and Roy find themselves in a battle of wits as they attempt to gain Mark’s trust and get him to testify.
The film culminates in a dramatic courtroom scene where Mark is forced to testify against the mob boss. In the end, Mark is successful in his testimony and the mob boss is convicted.
