Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Canal”
The Canal is a psychological horror film released in 2014 that follows the story of a film archivist named David (Rupert Evans). After a series of strange occurrences in his home, David begins to suspect that his house is haunted. He discovers that the house was the site of a brutal murder in the late 19th century and that the victim’s spirit may still be present.
As David investigates the past, he begins to experience vivid hallucinations and terrifying visions. He also finds himself becoming increasingly paranoid and isolated, and his wife Alice (Hannah Hoekstra) begins to worry about his mental health.
Things take a turn for the worse when David discovers that his wife has been cheating on him with his best friend, and his paranoia and fear intensify. He begins to believe that the spirit of the murdered woman is trying to take revenge on him and his family.
To make matters worse, David is also being stalked by a mysterious figure. He soon discovers that the figure is the ghost of the murdered woman, and that she wants to take vengeance on him and his family.
David must now find a way to save his family from the vengeful spirit before it’s too late. He must confront his own fears and face the dark secrets of his house in order to free himself and his family from the terror of the past.
