Synopsis/Plot
The Boat That Rocked is a 2009 British comedy film directed by Richard Curtis. Set in 1966, the film follows the crew of a pirate radio station aboard a ship in the North Sea, broadcasting rock and pop music to the United Kingdom.
The story revolves around Carl, a young man who is sent to stay with his godfather, Quentin, after being expelled from school. Quentin is the eccentric leader of a rag-tag pirate radio station, located on a boat in the North Sea. The station, Radio Rock, is home to an eclectic mix of DJs, including the rebellious Gavin, the suave Dave, the lovelorn Simon, the naive Angus, the wise-cracking Tommy, and the mysterious Count.
Together, the DJs battle against the British government, which is trying to shut them down. They must also contend with the machinations of a rival station, Radio London, whose owner is determined to put them out of business.
