Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Blue Umbrella”
The Blue Umbrella is a 2013 Indian romantic drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The film stars Pankaj Kapur, Shreya Sharma, and Sadhana Singh in the lead roles.
The story revolves around a young girl, Biniya (Shreya Sharma), who lives in a small village in the Himalayas. She is a bright and cheerful girl who loves to explore her surroundings. One day, while exploring the village, she finds a beautiful blue umbrella. She is so taken by it that she decides to keep it for herself.
The blue umbrella soon becomes a source of envy for the other villagers, who all want to possess it. This leads to a lot of rivalry and competition among them. Biniya’s father (Pankaj Kapur) is a wise man who tries to keep the peace among the villagers, but his efforts are in vain.
Meanwhile, a mysterious old man (Sadhana Singh) appears in the village and takes an immediate liking to Biniya and her blue umbrella. He tells her stories of his own life and of the people he has met in his travels. Biniya is captivated by his tales and starts to look at the world in a new light.
