The Blackcoat’s Daughter is a psychological horror film released in 2017, written and directed by Oz Perkins. The film follows two Catholic boarding school girls, Kat (Kiernan Shipka) and Rose (Lucy Boynton), who are left behind at their school during winter break. As their parents fail to arrive to pick them up, the girls are left to fend for themselves.
Kat begins to experience strange visions and is haunted by a mysterious figure, while Rose begins to act erratically and is consumed by an unknown force. As the days pass, the girls’ dark secrets and the terror that surrounds them begin to unravel.
Meanwhile, Joan (Emma Roberts), a troubled young woman, embarks on a road trip with a mysterious man. As their journey progresses, Joan is drawn to the boarding school and the two girls left behind.
The Blackcoat’s Daughter is a suspenseful, slow-burning thriller that follows the lives of three women and their descent into darkness. As the secrets of the school and the girls’ pasts are revealed, a supernatural force begins to take over, leading to a terrifying climax.
