Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms”
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is a classic sci-fi/horror movie released in 1953. The movie follows Professor Tom Nesbitt, a scientist who is studying the effects of atomic testing on the Arctic. He discovers a prehistoric creature, a Rhedosaurus, that has been frozen in the ice for millions of years. After being thawed out by the atomic testing, the creature begins a rampage of destruction.
The creature makes its way south, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. It eventually makes its way to New York City, where it begins to terrorize the citizens. The military is called in to try and stop the beast but they are unsuccessful. Professor Nesbitt is then asked to help find a way to stop the creature. He discovers that the only way to stop it is to use a powerful new weapon, the atomic bomb.
The military launches a daring mission to drop the bomb on the creature. After a long and intense battle, the creature is finally destroyed. The movie ends with Professor Nesbitt reflecting on the destruction caused by the creature and realizing the power of the atomic bomb.
