Synopsis – What to Expect from “The Bay”
The Bay is a 2012 horror-thriller film directed by Barry Levinson. It follows the story of a small town in Maryland called Claridge, which is suddenly and mysteriously overcome by a deadly plague.
The film begins with a news report about a massive fish kill in the Chesapeake Bay. Soon after, the town of Claridge is hit with a wave of strange illnesses. People start to experience flu-like symptoms and lesions on their skin. At first, the townspeople believe it’s just a bad case of the flu, but it quickly becomes apparent that it’s something much worse.
The town’s mayor, Stephanie (Kether Donohue), calls in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate. The CDC discovers that a deadly parasite called isopod has been released into the water supply, causing the illnesses. The parasite is a result of a government experiment gone wrong.
The CDC attempts to contain the outbreak, but it’s too late. The parasite has spread to the town’s water supply, food, and air, and it’s quickly spreading to the rest of the world. The townspeople must now fight for their lives against this terrifying parasite.
