Synopsis/Plot
The American is a 2010 action thriller starring George Clooney as Jack, an assassin who is hiding out in Italy while attempting to complete one last job. He meets a beautiful prostitute, Clara (Violante Placido), and falls in love with her, but their relationship is complicated by the fact that Jack is a wanted man. He is pursued by a relentless assassin (Johan Leysen) and a mysterious priest (Paolo Bonacelli). As Jack attempts to complete his mission, he must also protect Clara from the danger that surrounds him.
The American is a stylish and suspenseful film that follows Jack as he tries to stay one step ahead of his pursuers. Jack is a master of disguise and is adept at staying in the shadows, but his luck is running out. He must use all of his skills to survive and protect Clara from the dangers that threaten them both.
The film is set in the beautiful Italian countryside, and the cinematography captures the stunning landscapes and architecture of the region. The film also features a haunting score by Hildur Gudnadottir.
